Thursday, June 29, the Bettendorf Community School District, with the help of the Quad City Chamber of Commerce ambassadors, is hosting a ribbon cutting for the new tennis and pickleball courts at Bettendorf High School and Bettendorf Middle School. The 9 am event will showcase the school/community project that was funded in partnership with Bettendorf Parks and Recreation as well as with a grant from the Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA).
Bettendorf High School’s six aging tennis courts have been replaced with a total of 12 high-quality, competition tennis courts. Bettendorf Middle School now has six new tennis courts, six pickleball courts, a restroom, and shelter.
The QC Pickleball Club will be holding a pickleball demonstration at 9:30-10:30 am at the new Bettendorf Middle School Tennis/Pickleball Courts, 2030 Middle Rd. (East side of Middle Rd. entrance).
The $1.8M project is being funded equally through the Bettendorf Community School District, Bettendorf Parks & Recreations and a grant from SCRA. The Bettendorf Community School District portion was provided by community tax funds - SAVE (one cent sales tax) and PPEL (Physical Plant and Equipment Levy).
Missman Inc. designed the complexes. They were built by Bush Construction.
