Students working on project

Checkout the new SCALE Room at Bettendorf Middle School! The room is based off of the TILE room concept used at the University of Iowa and similar setups around the country. It's arranged to provide multiple levels of collaborative opportunities, ranging from mobile desks and flexible seating, to multiple whiteboard spaces, to four interactive whiteboards designed for students to have hands-on experience. When the room is fully completed, it will also include accessibility features like a throwable microphone to amplify voices and two television screens to allow students to see presentations from any space in the room. Most notably, what is missing is a dedicated teacher desk/space. The goal is to get students as involved as possible as the teacher facilitates the experience and interacts with the groups. The BMS SCALE Room was funded through a Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA) Grant.
